The Dream Pirates

Gliding over the  trees and sailing past the moon
a pirate ship floats and will be here soon.
These pirates come in search of the best kids dreams
in a magic flying boat powered by moon beams!!
They can smell a good dream from 3 miles out
then the captain gives orders and the crew all shout.
“Keep the moon on our starboard! Easy as she goes!
We need five more dreams before the sun shows!”
They’ll drop anchor outside while you’re sound asleepin’
then open the window and quietly creep in.
They’ll play with your toys, jump on your bed.
then steal the dreams from right out of your head.
They sneak off with your dreams and the ones they like best
will get buried somewhere in an old treasure chest. 
A big chest filled with other kids dreams from other kids’ heads
laying on other kids pillows in other kids beds.
Dreams about fairies, more than you can count an’.
Kids dreaming they’re giants and bigger than a mountain.
Dreams about riding unicorns and swimming with mermaids.
But once they’re stolen by the pirates they begin to fade.
So you’ll know if you were visited by the Pirates.
You’ll know they were up to something rotten
if you ever wake up in the morning
and your sweet dreams are all forgotten.
