There’s Fairies in the Letterbox

There’s fairies in the letter box

On the corner of our street

They keep biting Missus Smithdale

they think her fingers are a treat

There’s unicorns in the roundabout

And trolls are under the overpass.

The trolls scare all the commuters

And unicorns eat all the grass.

There are mermaids In the fountains

Up at the Lakeview mall

And sea serpents in our swimming pool

They have eaten eight beach balls

There’s ogres sleeping in our alley

And elves sitting on our shelves

I’d offer them some food

But they’ve already helped themselves.

There is dragons rooting ‘round

the bins we have out back.

But the exterminator won’t help us

He’s afraid he’ll get attacked.

All these creatures in our neighborhood

We don’t know what else to do

The cops say it’s not their beat

And they don’t want ‘em at the zoo.

But I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.

We can’t expect anything good

To come from building all our new houses

On top of the old enchanted wood.
